American English and Culture Program (AECP) Welcomes you to Intensive English at
Arizona State University.

ESL at ASU

Established in 1974, the American English and Culture Program is located on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University, a "Research 1 Institution" serving over 64,000 students. Our program and the university are situated in the modern city of Tempe, which the New York Times has rated one of the top ten US college towns. AECP provides specially designed English language courses for non-native speakers of English. The program offers its students a wide range of services including:

Modern Curriculum

Course offerings are prepared to meet the language needs of highly motivated students. AECP offers six levels of instruction in reading/writing and listening/speaking as well as popular elective classes including TOEFL, Business English, American Pronunciation and Accent Reduction, Power Vocabulary, Grammar, Conversation, English through American Film and English through Music.

Cultural and Social Activities

A full range of program-sponsored trips and activities are provided to AECP students. Activities include field trips to scenic areas of Arizona such as the Grand Canyon and Sedona, picnics, language clubs, holiday events, university sporting, music and theater events, Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondback games, a Conversation Partners Program, health club membership, and many other on and off-campus activities.
The ASU campus has a professional auditorium which presents a full season of music and dance. It also has nine museums including the Nelson Fine Arts Gallery, and hosts a distinguished lecture series.
