English for Foreign Students also runs a 4-week American Language and Culture Program (EFS 687) in collaboration with VIA, a private, non-profit organization based at Stanford dedicated to Asia/US public service and education. Most students are recruited from select universities in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea for this program, but a small number of openings exist for students who wish to apply independently and are currently attending or recently graduated from a university in East Asia or Southeast Asia. Prospective students should understand the overall goals and content of the program: see http://www.viaprograms.org/asian_students/alc.
