The English Language Center (ELC) helps students from all over the world become confident communicators with exceptional Intensive English, Academic Preparation and Professional Training programs. Courses are offered on-campus and online, providing the student with flexible learning opportunities. A team of dedicated, friendly staff provide a wide range of support services to assist students. Program Offerings:
ScheduleIntensive English Program (IEP)The IEP classes begin five times a year. Completion of each level takes 2 sessions (4 months). Students may enroll at the beginning of any session.
Fall I: September-October *Summer semester is equal to two sessions. Students have 35 hours of instruction per week for eight weeks. Advanced Academic English CoursesThese courses are offered during academic semesters (4 months). Students may enroll in these courses for the Fall I, Spring I or Summer semester.Program CostsThe approximate tuition and fees for one full semester (two sessions) of the Intensive English Program is $4,000. As an additional fee, all F-1 students are required to enroll in UMBC health insurance.
